POSITION PURPOSE: 

The Traffic Director is responsible for crossing students safely at dedicated and marked crosswalks at intersections while utilizing proper safety procedures.

Custodian: Under general supervision, performs a variety of general custodial and light groundskeeping working the care and maintenance of assigned school buildings and facilities. Work involves sweeping, mopping and using vacuum cleaners to clean floors; washing walls, woodwork and fixtures; and policing buildings to empty trash receptacles and pick up debris, etc

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Monitor traffic flow to appropriately assist traffic onto and off ABSS properties while maintaining the fluidity of streets / highways.
  2. Direct vehicular movement using appropriate signs, flags, lanterns, and hand signals.
  3. Guide or control vehicular and pedestrian traffic on streets / highways as applicable.
  4. Report unsafe behavior of students to school administrators.
  5. Report and discuss performance, complaints, or violations with supervisor(s).
  6. Record license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals; report infractions to the school’s SRO.
  7. Distribute traffic control signs and markers at designated points, as needed.
  8. Discuss traffic routing plans and control point locations with school administrators.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal, Transportation Director, or Assistant Director
  11. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, strips, waxes and buffs floor surfaces.
  12. Cleans restroom areas and replenishes paper supplies and soap as necessary.
  13. Cleans windows, walls, doors, woodwork, supply vents and return vents, blinds and light fixtures.
  14. Dusts and cleans desks and other furniture.
  15. Empties trash receptacles; deposits recyclable material in proper receptacles.
  16. Sweeps sidewalks and walkways outside of buildings; polices grounds, picking up debris; shovels snow and/or applies de-icing compounds to walkways and driveways, as necessary>
  17. Replaces burned-out light bulbs. Replaces ceiling tiles.
  18. Change ceiling tiles as necessary while standing on a ladder.
  19. Prepares requisition forms to obtain necessary supplies for coming workweek.
  20. Sets traps for rodents and other pests, appropriately discarding trapped animals.
  21. Performs minor maintenance on appliances, as abilities allow.
